It felt like minutes. It was a holy moment.
I'll never forget my first trip to South Africa in 2010: our first day there, my breath was literally taken away. My husband Dan and I were on a private tour of Kruger National Park with MalaMala Camp when our guide spotted a male lion — he sauntered by like the true King of the Jungle, within a few feet of our open Jeep.
He moved past us toward a female, who reared back and roared — a roar so loud it vibrated through my entire body. Then we saw why: three cubs, just weeks old, standing behind their mother, tumbling over each other like puppies. We watched that family, transfixed, for more than an hour. It felt like minutes. It was a holy moment.
My business is all about helping people experience their own once-in-a-lifetime trips. I do far more than book a plane ticket and a hotel room — I get to know my clients and learn what they want (and don't want) from their travels.
